We’ve expanded further this month with the addition of Courtney to our Management Team. In this blog, you’ll get the lowdown on her background and what she’s going to bring to the team.

Let’s kick things off with the first question:

What’ve your first impressions been? 

“It’s such an exciting time to be joining the business, there’s SO much energy and activity going on with multiple recent acquisitions. It’s fast-paced and although I’m only really a week in, I’m already getting my teeth into a variety of different projects. 

I already know a lot of the existing team from when I used to work in the building previously, but it’s grown incredibly in the past year alone - going from a team of 10 to 23 in less than 12 months. As you can imagine, there are a lot of new faces to get to know. Everyone seems fantastic - and so knowledgeable! I’m learning a lot, that's for sure. Listening to how they all talk about what they do with such passion is remarkable.

I’m new to working in the property industry but I've always been interested in it and the prospect of investing myself. Hearing the Ultralets+ team (the guys who help investors find properties to expand their portfolios) talk about all the considerations within investing in property and the advice they give to their customers has been eye-opening. It’s so clear to see how much value they offer to investors. If you’ve ever been considering diving into the investment property industry, you should definitely contact Dave, Liam or Spencer.”

Can you tell us about your background? 

“I’ve been a Marketer for the last 12-ish years. I started as an Apprentice at Hull’s leading design and marketing firm. After progressing in my role there, I decided to go it alone. I set up an agency called Blab and I’ve been running that for the past 4.5 years. We were a tight team of 6 but we worked with brands all over the world.

Every moment of running that business was hugely enjoyable and I was sad to go but the opportunity within the Synergy Forward Group (which Ultralets is a part of) suited me down to the ground, so it was time for a change.”

What will your role involve? 

“Anyone who knows me will tell you how obsessed I am with organisation and structure. I’ll be there in the background of the Synergy Forward Group making sure that all operations are running smoothly from systems and processes to reporting and financial tracking. 

I’ll ensure the management team all have the support they need to thrive and get involved with looking after the broader team with things like planning social events, environmental reviews and annual leave tracking. 

With my background, I won’t be able to help myself but to get involved in the brand-building element of the brands within the group, looking at the overall marketing strategy and positioning for the individual brands.

Of course, there’s a great deal of compliance within any business too so I’ll get to oversee all the fun stuff too like risk assessments. I’m essentially going to be a support for Spencer to take over all the organisational tasks involved in running a business so he can focus on continuing to grow and develop the group with new expansion moves and acquisitions.” 

What are you most looking forward to? 

“To be totally honest, there’s something big on the horizon that we can’t talk about just yet but the wheels are in motion and we’ll be sharing more on this over the next couple of months. 

For a less vague answer - I’m looking forward to fully understanding how the business runs. The systems they have in place at the moment are ace and it’s clear that their clever use of technology has played a crucial part in the scaling up of the business so far. Once I’ve got my head around all the elements of the business, I can start making more suggestions on how to create an even better experience for our customers.”
